Vredendal
Vredendal is situated in the West Coast region of the Western Cape, South Africa.
Geography and History
This relatively modern town is situated in the Green Fringe of the Olifants river valley. Vredendal with its developed infrastructure is home to the largest wine cellar in South Africa, as well as, a number of boutique wineries and a dried fruit depots.
Established in 1994 Vredendal is 310km North of Cape Town. Agriculture in the area include table grapes, raisins as well as excellent wines.
Renowned for its intricate irrigation scheme, the Olifants River allows for extensive agriculture in the area.

Activities
Vredendal is on the Olifants River wine route, which includes the large vineyards of Westcorp and Lutzville, a number of petite boutique cellars producing some up and coming wines. Doing this wine route is only one of the many activities that this town offers to its visitors.
